Exercise and play opportunities in the garden
Our garden offers separate exercise areas for our crèche and kindergarten children. Lawn and sand areas as well as the roller rink allow them to play in a variety of ways.
On the outdoor area of the centre there is a play castle, seesaws, two sandpits, hills, inclined planes, balancing logs and tree platforms, which provide the children with a variety of activities.
A walk-through earth tunnel in a mounded slope in the kindergarten area invites children to crawl through. Children can experience the element of water up close and experiment with it while playing in the muddy section with a watercourse and pump.
Garden sheds and small gardening projects
The children can find movable toys such as vehicles, sand toys, doll's prams, balls and much more in our two garden sheds.
There are flower and vegetable beds in the crèche area. The crèche children have created a "mouse nursery" and are gaining their first gardening experience there. In the nursery area, the children have planted flower and herb beds and look after them on their own initiative.
Floor replacement in our daycare centre
In 2020, with the support of the European Union, financed by the European Regional Development Fund, the contaminated soil in our garden was replaced.
Due to the smelting of ores in the Freiberg area, the areas in our garden were contaminated with high levels of arsenic. In March/April 2020, the soil was removed to a depth of 35 cm from all open spaces in our daycare centre and replaced with healthy soil. Fresh turf was then laid for the children to play on again.
The total cost of the measure was around € 195,000, of which the majority, around € 142,000, was financed by funds from the European Union (ERDF).
