Concept of the Campuszwerge daycare centre

The educational work at our centre is based on the Saxon education plan for children's facilities. We take a situation-oriented approach to realising our educational mission and its goals. The children explore their environment through their ability to make contact, ask questions and through their powers of perception and observation.

We see the children as self-determined, sensitive, curious people who understand life with alert senses and in their own individual way and are recognised, valued and respected by us. Social skills such as negotiation, conflict resolution skills, values and norms strengthen the children's sense of self-competition and self-confidence.

For the educational staff, this means recognising the children's educational processes, providing stimuli and impulses, accompanying children in their exploratory learning, offering them the space they need to develop and providing appropriate materials. We understand education as an active process of the child acquiring knowledge through independent action. In this way, we recognise important situations in the children's lives and can build on their questions and experiences.

Recurring rituals, a regular daily routine and the alternation of rest and tension are tailored to the children's needs, e.g.

  • Daily morning circle and storytelling sessions
  • Water treatments such as dew treading, pouring, washing, alternating baths and treading water
  • Sauna visits and sound massages
  • Jointly prepared snack
  • Yoga and relaxation exercises

Children's questions are welcome! Various projects awaken the children's curiosity. They explore and experiment on their own:

Curiosity and enthusiasm are essential keys to a positive approach to science and technology. Having fun and enjoying researching and experimenting are just as important as the general development of our children's skills. There is always something for us to discover and explore. Whether it's the seasons, natural phenomena, the growth of a butterfly or the production of food, the origins of which are explained to us by the children or we find out for ourselves with the children.

  • How is Nutella made?

Trust and participation are the foundations for developing social skills. The following are important to us

Work according to the holistic health concept of Sebastian Kneipp

The special thing about the Kneipp health concept is the harmonious interplay of the five elements: rhythm of life - water - exercise - nutrition - herbs. They form the basis for a health-conscious lifestyle to strengthen the children's resilience and immune system.

Balance During the course of the day, attention is paid to a constant alternation of rest and relaxation. This includes a barefoot path, massages with hedgehog balls and relaxation sessions with singing bowls. Water Water as a mediator of natural life stimuli improves body awareness and increases performance. It is very important to us that the children enjoy treading water, walking in the water or taking an arm bath. The children themselves decide whether to take part in the treatments. Movement Through movement, children can get to know their own bodies and themselves and test their limits. Children like to move. Exercise improves strength, endurance and coordination. We support this with weekly sports days, exercise construction sites and regular exercise in the fresh air. We are outdoors whatever the weather. Nutrition The canteen team prepares a healthy, wholesome and varied range of dishes according to DGE (German Nutrition Society) recipes. However, this FIT KID programme also involves the active participation of parents. They provide an appropriate breakfast and snack. Unsweetened herbal and fruit teas, juice spritzers and water as well as fruit and vegetables are available to the children at all times. Plants Our kindergarten children have planted a bed with various herbs. There are also fruit trees, raspberry and strawberry plants and an elderberry bush in our garden. The children have taken responsibility for caring for the herbs and berries. Barrel sauna Since 2024, we have been able to use our barrel sauna as a supplementary service. FIT KID - the healthy eating campaign for daycare centres

At the beginning of 2013, our daycare centre was awarded the "FIT KID - Kita" certificate, making it one of the first daycare centres in the whole of Saxony to receive this accolade.

Healthy eating is an important part of holistic health promotion. The healthier children grow up, the higher their quality of life and performance. Eating healthily is a learning process for which parents and childcare centres are jointly responsible.

For this reason, we offer the children a high-quality, Fit Kid-certified lunch. This involved scrutinising not only the lunch, which is prepared strictly separately from the student meals in the Freiberg canteen, but also the design of the meals and the implementation of a child-friendly menu.

Early musical education

Once a week, interested children can take part in the "Klangdrachen" early music programme.

There is regular further training for teaching staff on education for sustainable development for children.

Co-operation agreement with Georgius Agricola primary school

Reading aloud activities, taster sessions, etc. familiarise the preschoolers with their future primary school routine and prepare them for school. The daycare centre's varied preschool programme is thus supplemented in a practical way.
