Campuszwerge daycare centre projects

Nature & Science

In the nature and science category, children discover their environment through play. Exciting experiments, illustrative materials and visits from experts arouse curiosity and encourage a spirit of enquiry. The children learn to ask questions, recognise connections and look at the world with open eyes.

The book "Little bee Hermione, where are you at home?" was used to introduce the topic "The world of bees" to the children. The bee hand puppet Hermine moved into the group and accompanied them through the project. The children learnt about the difference between honey bees and wild bees, where bees live, how they build and raise their offspring. Finally, a beekeeper showed us his tools and materials for extracting honey, for example.

The children find "wolf tracks" in the garden and so the wolf project begins. We make tracks out of plaster, measure and weigh them, explore differences, make masks, invite experts to the daycare centre and finish by camping in Rietschen at the Wolf Museum.

In December 2025, the children were visited by Mr Hecker, organised by Ms Häußler from the "Junior Researchers" Freiberg.
He had many different experiments in his luggage and the children were amazed and tested their knowledge.
They created artificial snow, visualised sounds, melted a paper cup and much more.

Body & Mind

In the body and mind category, children learn to be aware of their own bodies and pay attention to their feelings. Through movement, relaxation and mindful activities, they strengthen their motor skills, self-confidence and emotional well-being. Through play, the children learn how important a healthy body and a balanced mind are for their daily lives.

Through the use of various media, materials, stimuli and activities, the children learn about their bodies on different levels. The children can experience this with all their senses.

Every body, every hand and footprint is unique! And that's great!

Through playful exploration, investigation, discovery, repetition and visual and transparent design, the children get to know their bodies.

Culture & Traditions

In the culture and traditions category, the children discover different customs, festivals and ways of life. Through stories, music, creative activities and joint celebrations, they learn about cultural diversity and develop respect and openness towards other people. At the same time, the children learn how traditions strengthen community and convey identity.

On 12 December 2025, we celebrated St Lucy's Day at the kindergarten. We danced, baked biscuits, drank children's punch and told stories. The festival originated in Sweden and symbolises hope for the new year.

There was also a story about St Lucy from Italy, who goes to the children with a donkey to distribute presents. So the children had the idea of bringing pictures from Sweden or Italy to tell us what they had seen there. That was really great.

Inspired by the story of Petterson and Findus, they designed and built their own Christmas trees. In a lovingly decorated Secret Santa workshop, the children were able to get creative with a variety of activities, while the youngest children painted the windows with Christmas colours. A cosy reading session in the mining museum and the decorating of Christmas trees in the town rounded off the programme. Thanks to a kind donor, the children then enjoyed hot chocolate and croissants at the Christmas market.
