Rooms of the Hornmühlenweg day care centre

The daycare centre complex consists of a crèche and a kindergarten area with their own sanitary and wet rooms, a multi-purpose room, a staff room and an office as well as the kitchen, the caretaker's workshop and the warehouse.

Directly in front of the south-west side of the building is a terrace area that is accessible from all group rooms. This area can be fully protected from intense sunlight by awnings. In suitable weather, most of the daytime activities take place on this terrace and in the neighbouring garden.

Multipurpose room

We enter our spacious and light-flooded multi-purpose room through the entrance area. This forms the centrepiece of our daycare centre and leads to the separate areas for the crèche and kindergarten.

In the multi-purpose room, the children have a wide range of activities to encourage their creativity, musicality and joy of movement. Here they create works of art, make music and dance. At the same time, the room is transformed into an atmospheric theatre or fairytale stage for parties and events.

Crèche

"Frog room" exercise room The frog room serves as a space that stimulates movement for our children, especially to promote gross motor skills. The climbing platform, transportable stools and material containers as well as the use of tables, chairs and blankets encourage the children to create their own movement construction sites and test their motor skills in them.
Bedroom In the newly designed bedroom, the children's individual sleeping needs are catered for with different sleeping arrangements (beds, nests and mats). Play and education room "Mäuschenzimmer" The materials in this room invite children to engage in a variety of activities. The little mouse room has a children's kitchen and a spacious building corner with various building and learning materials as well as a variety of table games that stimulate children's cognitive development and interaction. Creative room "Atelier" The studio offers the children various opportunities in the area of aesthetic education. The platform and the hanging swing serve as an island of calm for the children. The literature shelf encourages children to look at books. Cloakroom and outdoor area The cloakroom has direct access to the spacious garden with sandpit. To the left, the children cultivate their own small market garden and compost. Throughout the outdoor area, transportable play materials, various balancing routes, hills and inclined planes invite children to learn holistically.

Kindergarten

Hedgehog room In the hedgehog room, the children will find a large climbing castle that invites them to play role-playing games or serves as a quiet corner. Various puzzles and games are available for the children to develop their maths skills. Beaver lodge The beaver lodge is used by the children as a reading area. They also have the opportunity to relax there while listening to musical stories. Creative area Here, the children experiment, paint and do handicrafts. They learn how to use different tools and materials. Individual works are then trialled in the research corner. This encourages them to explore mathematical and physical processes in particular. Wood workshop The children also like to use the wood workshop to create individual works of art, where they learn how to work with different wooden objects. Beetle room The beetle and sparrow rooms are interconnected rooms that provide a variety of materials for different activities. The spacious building corner offers just as much space as the secluded doll's corner for individual role play.

In the bug room, children will also find a large selection of rule and logic games.
Sparrow room In the sparrow room, the children have the opportunity to dress up. A music trolley with various instruments also invites children to make music. Cloakroom and outdoor area Two spacious cloakrooms offer the children sufficient space to store their personal clothing. Each of the three group rooms is adjacent to a sanitary and wet area. The hedgehog, beetle and sparrow rooms are used for eating and resting in addition to the experiences described above. All group rooms and both cloakrooms have access to the terrace and the spacious garden.
